The Local Plan sets out a vision and framework for the future development of the area.
We need enough homes and jobs for everyone, and to plan carefully for these to make sure they are built in the right place, with the necessary facilities and services, while protecting the environment as much as possible.
Without a Plan, the development will still happen, but we’ll have much less control over where it happens and how it happens.
Three golden threads will run through our new Local Plan:
- sustainability - limiting the impact on the environment and giving back to nature as much as possible
- accessibility - designing inclusive places for everyone to live life to the fullest
- health and wellbeing – designing places to have a positive impact on our physical and mental health.
Call for sites
We are currently in the process of updating the Local Plan for Central Bedfordshire, and as part of this there will be a need to allocate sites for new homes and jobs, and potentially supporting infrastructure.
