Mutual exchange and rightsizing

Mutual exchange - swapping your council home

COVID-19 – social distancing

In line with government advice, we are actively promoting social distancing and minimising person-to-person contact. We are therefore strongly discouraging tenants from exercising their right to mutual exchange at this time, unless there is an essential reason to move.

Visit GOV.UK for government advice on moving home.

About mutual exchange

A mutual exchange takes place when 2 or more tenants swap their council homes.

We provide our tenants with the Homeswapper service which is free of charge. Find out more about Homeswapper.

After your registration is approved, you will be able to search for homes you like. When you find a swap, you'll need to apply to us for permission.

House Exchange

We stopped using House Exchange from 1 June 2021. You can still use it if you want to, but you'll be charged. You can find out more about Housing Exchange by searching online.
