Applying for a school place during the academic year

If your application is unsuccessful

Your child will be added to the waiting list: for community and VC schools this will be until the end of the academic year for the Year group you have applied for. For academies, foundation and voluntary-aided schools, please check the school's admission arrangements or contact the school/academy. You will need to re-apply from May to be placed on the school's waiting list for the new academic year (if applicable) if you have not already applied for the new Year group.

Waiting lists are prioritised according to the oversubscription criteria for the school, not in the date order of when the application was received.

You will have the right to appeal

If you live in Central Bedfordshire and do not currently have a school place in the local area, we will offer a place at the next nearest school with places available.

For any in-year applications made to us, you will have 25 school days to appeal an unsuccessful decision from the date on your outcome letter.
