Education reviews: the one page profile for Children Previously in Care (CPiC)
Personal Education Plans (PEPs) are not a statutory requirement for children previously in care (CPiC). However, it is considered best practice for termly reviews to continue. These should involve the child if appropriate, and the parent/guardian.
To support schools and settings to manage termly reviews for CPiC, Virtual School has created these documents for Designated Teachers to download and use in schools/settings:
- One Page Profile, Needs Analysis and Provision Record (School Aged +)
- One Page Profile, Needs Analysis and Provision Record (Early Years)
The One Page Profile is co-produced with the child and parents/guardians and can be shared with teachers in the school/setting to help build understanding. The Needs Analysis helps schools identify a diverse range of needs that children with disrupted attachments and trauma can present with. The Provision Record provides a straightforward way of recording support, including a list of Ordinarily Available Provisions which can be easily highlighted to show support.
These documents work alongside our attachment and trauma toolkit, which gives more detail about how these could be used in schools as well as ideas about useful interventions that are in line with Central Bedfordshire’s Graduated Response to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
