School transport in bad weather

What happens if a school is closed?

If a school is closed as a result of bad weather the school will update our school closures system (link opens in new window).

Please note, the system resets the school status to open at 9pm every night. The system then sends an email to everyone who is registered (link opens in new window) to receive updates. Transport providers have been instructed to monitor the website so they can establish the transport requirements for the following day.

What happens when school transport cannot be provided?

If a transport provider is unable to offer school transport e.g. in the event of snow or ice, they will contact our transport team. Our team will then inform the school, who will then pass on the information via Parent Mail, their website, or Facebook and Twitter. The ways in which schools get in touch with parents will differ. For Special Education Schools (SEN), our transport team will contact parents / carers directly by telephone, as well as informing the school.
