Report or track roads and highways problems - potholes, street lights

Report HGVs using roads they shouldn't

Some of our roads are no longer open to heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) over 7.5 tonnes. HGVs are re-routed to more appropriate roads.

The weight limit applies to HGVs travelling through the area but of course lorries making deliveries in the area are exempt.

To raise awareness of the weight limits we have been working with local companies, sat nav providers and installed clear signage.

We have also been working with the police to stop HGV drivers and, where applicable, gave verbal warnings or prosecuted them for contravening the weight restrictions.

We can’t however, watch the roads all the time, so we need your help. If you spot an HGV in one of the weight limit zones, you can report it.

How to report an HGV

If you can, please report the HGV to Bedfordshire Police with as much of the following information as possible:

  • name of company
  • registration number
  • date and time
  • location

You can check to see the weight limit zones on our weight limits page.
