Statement of community involvement
Plan-making is conducted jointly across Bedfordshire. It is therefore subject to the directions provided in the statements of community involvement (SCIs) from Luton, Bedford and Central Bedfordshire councils. Each authority will ensure that their residents and other interested parties are engaged with, according to their own SCIs.
The determination of planning applications is subject to the SCI of the authority in which any given site is located.
The latest SCIs are available from each council’s website.
For minerals and waste planning applications in Central Bedfordshire, an SCI from 2006 is also used as informal guidance by officers. This was adopted by the former Bedfordshire County Council and was the last statement that had a specific focus on minerals and waste planning.
