Existing hires of the Greenacre Centre hall – Stotfold Library consultation

Consultation closed: Thursday, 28 July, 2022
Consultation opened: Thursday, 5 May, 2022

Stotfold Town Council has struggled to secure bookings for the hall, due to hirers preferring alternative local venues and the location of the centre in a residential area, requiring consideration to be given to hosting events which do not lead to antisocial behaviour which limits its usage.

Stotfold Town Council has contacted all of the groups who use the Greenacre Centre hall to understand their requirements and to see whether there are alternative suitable venues.

It hopes to accommodate them in the Memorial Hall (owned by Stotfold Town Council) or one of its other facilities. If hirers cannot be accommodated in Stotfold Town Council's estate, there are numerous other venues in Stotfold that could potentially accommodate them:

  • Memorial Hall (owned by Stotfold Town Council)
  • Stotfold Football Club clubhouse (owned by Stotfold Town Council, but leased to the football club)
  • Roecroft Centre
  • Salvation Army Hall
  • St. Mary’s Church Hall
  • Methodist Church Hall
  • Pendleton Centre
  • Etonbury Academy
  • Pix Brook Academy
  • Roecroft Lower School
  • St. Mary’s Academy
  • Stotfold Conservative Club
  • Stotfold Mill Ivel Room

Our Leisure Facilities Strategy assessed the supply and demand sports halls within Central Bedfordshire; it considered the current stock, including accessible school sports hall facilities. The strategy considered future population growth and data on trends for the activities which take place in sports halls, to determine requirements for the future.

The strategy found that the supply of sports halls in the Arlesey, Stotfold, Shefford area was good, including several school halls in existence, and future halls being provided. New school sports facilities require community use agreements to enable the community to access those facilities out of school hours.
