Landlord responsibilities for houses in multiple occupation (HMOs)
If you're a landlord of an HMO, you must:
- keep the property in good repair with reference to the Housing Health and safety Rating System
- keep the common and shared parts of the HMO property in good order e.g. staircase, shared lounge, fire escapes fixtures and fittings; view the management regulations to find out the minimum requirements
- ensure an adequate number of amenities, such as:
- cooking facilities
- bathrooms
- toilets
