Personal Education Plan (PEP) Meetings

A Personal Education Plan (PEP) meeting takes place termly and is usually held virtually. This is sometimes alongside the Child in Care (CiC) review or Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) review. Where it is felt appropriate, one of the 3 Personal Education Plans (PEPs) can be a Designated Teacher (DT) review. This is where the DT submits the PEP but a meeting is not required. Social Care input is still required for this document.

The social worker should liaise with the Virtual School education advisor to arrange a PEP meeting date. The social worker then invites attendees. For unaccompanied minors seeking sanctuary, the social worker should book an interpreter if needed.

PEP meetings should be attended by the social worker, the Virtual School education advisor, the carers, the designated teacher, the supervising social worker and the child if appropriate. Additional attendees could be the parent and any other professional involved with the child, for example, a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHs) worker. The Virtual School Education Advisor chairs the PEP meeting.
