New into care
When a child goes into care, the Virtual School is notified by the social worker creating the notification form then sending it to the Conference and Review Team who then distribute it.
When the Virtual School are informed of a new CiC, the social worker will receive an email informing them of the allocated Education Advisor.
A PEP meeting with the child’s school must be arranged within 10 school days of the child going into care. Alternatively, if the Education Advisor is invited to the initial CiC review then a PEP meeting can be set within 10 days of this meeting.
If a child has no education in place at the point of coming into care, the social worker must liaise with the Virtual School Education Advisor to ensure the child is on roll at a suitable school within 20 days of coming into care. The Education Advisor should be invited to the initial CiC review so they can complete an initial PEP, to ensure the child’s return to education is planned and supported.
