School attendance

The Access and Inclusion Service

At the Access and Inclusion Service, we support parents with their legal duty to ensure their children receive a suitable education.

We monitor school attendance, and can offer advice to parents whose children have attendance difficulties. We have a legal duty to take court action against parents of those whose children fail to regularly attend school where this meets the legal threshold.

We also monitor the education of home-educated children.

In addition we are responsible for:

  • child employment
  • children in entertainment
  • exclusions
  • children missing education
