Help us count the trees – join the Tree Tally today!

Thursday, 16 October 2025

We're calling on residents, landowners, schools, and community groups to take part in the Tree Tally survey and help shape the future of our green spaces.

Since 2019, thousands of trees and hedgerows have been planted across Central Bedfordshire, contributing to cleaner air, richer biodiversity, and more beautiful public spaces. Now, we want to hear from you.

Whether you’ve planted a single tree in your garden, helped grow a community orchard, or led a woodland project, your efforts matter. By sharing your planting activities from 2019 onwards, you’ll help us build a complete picture of tree and hedge planting across the region.

This initiative supports our Sustainability Plan, which sets the aspiration to support the planting of 1 million trees. This reflects planting carried out across the whole of Central Bedfordshire, including projects completed by us, our partners, public and private landowners, community organisations and groups, charities such as the Forest of Marston Vale, educational institutions and residents. So far, we’re directly responsible for planting nearly 90,000 trees, creating 13 tiny forests and supporting 90 community projects, but we know there are more out there.

Councillor Tracey Wye, our Executive Member for Sustainability and Climate Resilience, said:

Planting trees is one of the best things we can do to help the environment and support wildlife. By sharing what you’ve planted since 2019, we can celebrate your efforts and get a clearer picture of what’s happening across Central Bedfordshire. I hope lots of people take part in the Tree Tally and help us make our area greener and healthier.

Take part in the Tree Tally today and be part of a greener future for Central Bedfordshire.
