School admissions arrangements

Determined admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools

We're the admissions authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools. This means we're responsible for admissions to the school. Part of this responsibility includes consulting with relevant parties where changes are proposed and determining the admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools each year.

Latest academic year: 2021/2022

Following approval by Executive delegate decision, the admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools have been determined.

 Please note the following changes:

  • inclusion of children of staff priority to the oversubscription criteria for Roecroft Lower School
  • amendment to the priority children of staff at Fairfield Park Lower School by changing position from sixth to their place
  • amendment to the oversubscription criteria for Marston Moreteyne VC (formerly known as Church End Lower) to bring this in line with the standard admission policy for community and voluntary controlled schools in Central Bedfordshire
  • amendment to children of staff criterion at Leighton Middle School by changing position from sixth to their place
  • amendment to community and voluntary controlled schools admission arrangements 2021/22 to include the priority ‘children of staff’ in its oversubscription criteria

The coordinated schemes for admission in the academic year 2021/22 have been determined as follows:

Following approval by Executive delegate decision, the admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools (PDF 57.4KB) were determined.

Please note the following changes:

  • inclusion of 'children of staff' priority for admission criteria to Dunstable Icknield Lower School; Fairfield Park Lower School; Greenleas School; Heathwood Lower School; Shefford Lower School; Southcott Lower School; and Thomas Johnson Lower School
  • inclusion of priority for children who have been in care outside of England and whom since have been adopted to the oversubscription criteria for all community and voluntary controlled schools
  • reduction of the published admission number at Linslade Lower School from 45 to 30
