Household Waste Recycling Centres (Tidy tips)

Tidy tips

You don't need to book a slot at your local household waste recycling centre (tidy tip). Our tidy tips are open 7 days a week, from 9am to 5pm.

Proof of address is required

These sites are for Central Bedfordshire residents only to dispose of their own household waste.

All visitors to the site may be asked to provide proof of address. Those without proof of address, may not gain access to the site. This is in line with the approach taken by many of our neighbouring authorities.

Acceptable forms of identification include:

  • current UK driving licence (photo card or paper licence will be accepted, may be displayed electronically via a mobile phone)
  • Council Tax bill – from the current financial year (may be displayed electronically via a mobile phone)
  • utility bill (gas, electricity, or water) – less than a year old (may be displayed electronically via a mobile phone)
  • letter from HMRC or the Home Office – less than a year old (may be displayed electronically via a mobile phone)
  • current disabled parking permit

Waste permits

You will require a waste permit to dispose of your waste if you are using any of the following vehicles:

  • van
  • pick-up truck
  • car (including MPVs) towing a single axle trailer (from 1.2 metres by 0.9 metres, up to 1.8 metres by 1.2 metres) and up to 60cm high with a cover

If visiting in one of these vehicles, visits are limited to 12 visits within a 12 month period.

Find out what types of waste you will require a permit for - and how to request one.
