Help transform lives: Consider fostering and join a virtual information session

Monday, 11 May 2020

This Foster Care Fortnight is underway with an appeal for people in Central Bedfordshire to use their time during lockdown to research and consider fostering.

Join our Fostering Team for a virtual information session.

Foster care transforms lives and we're keen to share the incredible difference that our foster carers make, day in, day out, even during uncertain times such as the outbreak of the coronavirus. Foster carers Sharon, Tina and Stacey got together before lockdown to talk about fostering in films captured by Central Bedfordshire College students as part of their media studies. They all agreed that fostering has given them a different outlook on life and as families, they’ve gained more of an understanding of what some children have been through and how they can help them in a positive way.

Councillor Sue Clark, our Executive Member for Families, Education and Children said:

Fostering has the potential to be life changing for young people who are fostered and those who become foster carers. This Foster Care Fortnight, you could make a difference. The more local people who foster, the less children have to live with families in areas which are further away from the people they love and the places they feel safe and secure in.

We understand that people find it daunting making that first step to enquire so we’re holding a virtual information session. Our friendly and experienced team will cover everything you need to know about the process and the type of fostering you can do, but most importantly we’ll give you an opportunity to ask questions. We really would urge the public to consider fostering, especially during the current health pandemic, you could be that special someone to change the future of a child.

The virtual information session will be held on Thursday 21 May, between midday and 1pm.
