Consultation now open on plans to transform Ivel Valley School
Tuesday, 23 June 2026
Consultation opens on proposals to refurbish and develop Ivel Valley School and College.
Residents, families and stakeholders are being encouraged to have their say as a statutory consultation is now open on proposals to refurbish and develop Ivel Valley School and College.
The consultation follows earlier plans announced by Central Bedfordshire Council to deliver a major programme of improvements to the school, aimed at enhancing facilities for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The proposals include a combination of refurbishment of existing buildings and development on an adjacent site. Plans aim to improve learning environments, provide enhanced therapeutic and sensory spaces, and ensure the school can better meet future demand.
The consultation provides a formal opportunity for people to review the proposals and give feedback before any final decisions are made.
Councillor Gareth Mackey, Executive Member for Children and Families, said:
We want to ensure that every child has access to high-quality facilities that support their individual needs.
Now that the statutory consultation is open, I would encourage families, staff and the wider community to review the proposals and share their views. Your feedback will play an important role in shaping the future of Ivel Valley School and College.
Following the close of the consultation on 17 August, the Council’s Executive will be asked to consider the responses received and determine the proposal at the meeting to be held on 6 October 2026.
