Approved development includes:
- residential care home of 72 places
- an independent living scheme consisting of 88 homes:
- 55 x 1 bedroom apartments
- 33 x 2 bedroom apartments
- 8 bedroom short break for adults with learning and/or physical disabilities.
- access to care 24/7 as required
- private and secure outdoor space
- communal informal meeting spaces and a private resident lounge
- link through to neighbouring leisure centre
- 106 car parking spaces some of which will be dedicated to residents, visitors, and those working on-site.
- EV charging units in the car park.
The care home and independent living scheme are designed as integrated buildings and capable of being operated independently.
The care home will replace Ferndale Care Home and all Ferndale residents will have the opportunity to relocate to the new care home when it opens.
