Apply to rent a council garage

After your application to rent a garage

Garage rentals are currently suspended

As of Monday, 8 February 2021, we have temporarily closed our garage waiting list. Any applications received before this date will be processed as normal and added to the list.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience. 

What usually happens when you rent a garage

Some areas are very popular and have a long waiting list.

Once an application has been received and accepted, you will be offered the next available garage within the area you have requested.

Signing of tenancy agreement

If you accept the garage offered to you, you will need to attend the council offices in Dunstable to sign a contract.

Proof of identity / address

We will need to see the following documents:

  • proof of identity: for example, a driving licence / passport
  • proof of address: for example, your current council tax bill

Along with your ID, we currently require a month's payment in advance which is £44.40 for council tenants, and £53.20 for non-council tenants.

Prices are subject to change.

Future payments will be discussed at your appointment.

Your garage keys will be available after you have signed the contract. The contract will start on a Monday and you will be charged weekly on a Monday thereafter.
