Parent governor representatives help review education and children’s services at Central Bedfordshire Council.
They sit on the Children’s Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee and bring the views of parents into discussions about education and related services.
Role of a parent governor representative
Parent governor representatives:
- represent the views and concerns of parents of pupils in local authority maintained schools
- attend and contribute to meetings of the Children’s Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee
- take part in working groups set up by the committee where appointed
- work with councillors and council officers on education issues
- share information about scrutiny discussions and decisions with parents
- follow the council’s constitution and committee procedures
- meet the standards of conduct expected of councillors and co-opted members
