Apprenticeships
Did you know that the apprenticeship care leavers bursary increased from £1,000 to £3,000 for new starters? Did you even know there was a bursary to increase? Does your young person know how to apply for the bursary? The hope is that the increase will keep up with the rising costs of living and encourage more young people to start apprenticeships. Even though that money is there, not enough of our young people know about it or how to start receiving the bursary. Amazing Apprenticeships is a leading organisation in the education sector, and has created a fantastic flowchart to support care experienced young people to find out if they are eligible and what they need to do to receive the bursary.
University
For young people considering going to university, we have recently been working with DfE-funded programme SpringForward which aims to provide care experienced students with subject advice and support from independent school mentors who have subject expertise matching the students’ aspirations.
The following video is for young people to learn more about the programme.
Please speak with your young person’s education advisor if you think this would be great for your young person.
