Have your say in our Council Tax Support scheme consultation 2025 – your voice matters

We're now seeking feedback on proposed changes to the scheme and is carrying out a 6-week consultation to hear opinions from as many people as possible.
We're taking advice from our community partner organisations to ensure we connect with their clients and benefit recipients, so that their views are captured through the survey and engagement activity and ensure their authentic voices are heard in discussions about the proposed changes.
This advice from our community partners will support us to further shape the engagement activities and approaches at the consultation stage. At a minimum, we will:
- organise a static display at our larger libraries throughout the consultation period
- have leaflets/posters for e.g. food bank sites/community larders/children’s centres and council run venues
- send email notifications to:
- voluntary and community sector network contacts
- Holiday Activities and Food programme participants
- hold a focused community partners session on 28 November to consider the consultation proposals and the potential impacts on benefit recipients and supporting services

What happens next?
Once the consultation has closed, feedback will be collated and presented to a future meeting of our Executive for review.
If changes are made, they will start from 1 April 2026, and if this means changes for you personally, we will write and inform you.
