Community and village halls in Central Bedfordshire

Coronavirus guidance for multi-purpose community spaces

The government's guidance for those managing community centres, village halls and other community facilities was updated 12 April 2021 to reflect changes to restrictions on permitted activities.

Together with Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC), we carried out a survey in 2017 to gain as comprehensive and accurate a picture as possible of the village halls and community buildings in the area.

We have recently completed a 2021 survey which not only is to provide an update to the 2017 study but also assess the impact of COVID 19 on our halls and inform future investment and financial support for community facilities. The report for this will be coming soon.

Village Hall & Community Building Survey 2021

There are 159 community halls (of which we are aware) across Central Bedfordshire, equating to one hall per 1,754 residents and covering nearly every civil parish with a population of over 150. The survey is ongoing.

As a result of this work, we aim to complete a strategy for village halls and community buildings to target investment from new developments.
