Current Member allowances for Central Bedfordshire Council

Current Member allowances

Elected Members are entitled to claim allowances for the time and energy they dedicate to the local authority. This includes a basic allowance and in some cases an additional special responsibility allowance (SRAs).

The basic allowance can be claimed by all elected Members. SRAs are allocated to different Member roles within the Council, and are designed to acknowledge the additional work and responsibility taken on by those holding these roles. The Leader’s SRA is calculated as a percentage of the basic allowance, and the remaining SRAs are calculated as a percentage of the Leader’s SRA.

The current allowances for the period 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 are as follows.
