Testimonials: Adult social care

Why people work in adult social care

This is why our people love working in adult social care.

I love my job. It is so rewarding helping others that struggle with day-to-day things. It is such a rewarding job.

Rewarding job and I make a difference.

Worthwhile and rewarding job.

I have worked within the reablement service for the past two years, having no previous experience in social care – I worked in the mental health sector. Full training was given along with shadowing of experienced colleagues. The role is exceptionally rewarding in terms of helping people settle into their own homes after a hospital admission. Recently the service has moved from pure reablement to ‘discharge to assess’ whereas the client is assessed to whether they can be reabled or whether a package of care needs to be put in place.

There is an opportunity to attend varied training courses including the Apprenticeship Programme for the Diploma in Adult Social Care; Level 2 and Level 3.

Working in adult social care is such a rewarding a job to do. Making a positive difference to people’s lives and seeing firsthand how good care and support can help an individual grow and achieve their own personal goals is somewhat amazing.

I support adults with learning disabilities, and they never cease to amaze me, how with a little support and encouragement they can accomplish most things and enjoy doing so.

In a world that at times can be harsh, share kindness, share compassion and care for others, and in doing so it makes this world a nicer place.

I have wanted to work in the care sector for many years, in October last year I started working for QSS. Not having a background in care I was a little nervous, but I need not have been as I had plenty of time to shadow the other staff, complete my necessary online learning and now I'm out on my own and loving what I do. It is such a rewarding role, seeing clients' faces light up when you come in and knowing you have made a big difference to their day.

Not every client's needs are the same so it is very varied and I love that it's not the same day every day. I am so happy I now care, support and assist people in their homes. I have gained so much confidence with the support of Paula and a great team.
