Money matters: care leavers local offer

Your personal adviser or social worker will help you understand how best to manage your money before you turn 18. After 18 we will continue to work with you to make sure you understand the benefits you can claim, how to budget and what to do is you find yourself in crisis.

Although you may still receive some financial support once you are 18, we will help you to find your income from work, education grants and, if eligible, benefits. In most instances, we will not be responsible for your daily living costs. Nudge, which provides impartial financial wellbeing advice, made this Money Masterclass video for Central Bedfordshire’s care-experienced community which is about financial wellbeing and budgeting.

Debt and money worries can have a serious impact on your wellbeing. We need to know as soon as you start to worry about not having enough money.
