Housing health and safety rating system (HHSRS)
In addition to the overcrowding standards, we also have regard to the provisions of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (link opens in new window) (HHSRS). The HHSRS considers hazards associated with the lack of space within the dwelling for living, sleeping and normal family/household life. In certain severe cases, we can take enforcement action to deal with overcrowded conditions.
