About this job

Swallowfield Primary School is seeking to appoint a motivated, enthusiastic and caring SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with additional needs in ‘The Nest’, our specialist provision, which provides a structured, nurturing and inclusive environment for children across several year groups.

The role would be assisting with day to day requirements of individual children with special educational needs in our SEND provision- ‘The Nest’. Working as part of a supportive team, you will help pupils develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning, supporting both their academic progress and personal development.

We have a fun approach to the curriculum in ‘The Nest’ and celebrate enthusiastically each child’s small steps of achievement.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is caring, patient and enthusiastic about supporting children with SEND
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Is able to build positive relationships with children, staff and families
  • Is willing to learn and develop their skills within a supportive school environment

Experience of working with children with autism, speech and language needs or social and emotional needs would be beneficial, although training and support will be provided.

At Swallowfield Primary we are proud to offer:

  • delightful, courteous children who enjoy learning
  • a welcoming and supportive staff team
  • a positive and inclusive school community
  • a well-resourced learning environment with excellent facilities
  • opportunities for professional development and training

Staff wellbeing and teamwork are very important to us and we pride ourselves on having a supportive and friendly staff team.

We have high standards, expectations and aspirations for all our pupils and are committed to providing the children with a safe, inspiring learning environment in which they can flourish and realise their true potential.

Outstanding quality care, guidance and support are at the core of the school’s work and pupils respond favourably in this nurturing environment.

We warmly welcome visits to the school so you can see our provision in action.

Swallowfield Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and the school is committed to equal opportunities.
