The Chiltern School is an Area Special School in Central Bedfordshire. Our school offers all through education from 3-19 years. Our experienced staff provide stimulating learning opportunities addressing the needs of pupils with moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties. Many of our pupils have associated needs which include communication and social interaction, physical, sensory and medical.
The Chiltern School aspires to be a forward thinking ‘Centre of Excellence’, where we put the pupils at the heart of all decision making. We endeavour to take a holistic approach, valuing the whole child.
Our curriculum is innovative and bespoke so teaching our young people involves a variety of different skills.
Do you have a passion for Early Years teaching? If so, come and join our exciting Early Transitions department where ‘we dare to be different’ to enable every child to reach their full potential following our own bespoke curriculums.
Our wonderful children go from nursery age to the end of Year 2 and have a wide variety of special needs. As a practitioner, you will need to be warm and genuine to gain their trust and attention, to care about the ‘whole’ child and be curious about the obstacles and barriers they might face. You will also be required to build excellent relationships with parents, coworkers, and other professionals.
If you are
- Patient, calm and caring
- Compassionate and empathetic
- Fun and creative
- Organised yet flexible
- A great team player with good communication skills
then we are the school for you.
We are excited to learn what you can bring to our department!
We welcome applications from ECTs and teachers with mainstream or special school experience.
The Chiltern School is committed to the protection and safety of its pupils and all posts within school are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Check from the Disclosure and barring service. We are required to conduct online searches about shortlisted candidates in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance in order to identify any incidents or concerns which are publicly available online.
