New campaign showcases what’s on this summer across Central Bedfordshire

Thursday, 27 July 2023

We have launched a new campaign to showcase activities taking place this summer across Central Bedfordshire.

Children and families can make the most of a variety of activities, including holiday clubs at our leisure centres, play sessions at our children’s centres, and various activities at our 12 libraries – including the annual Summer Reading Challenge!

Central Bedfordshire has over 1,000 hectares of beautiful countryside, and this summer families can enjoy free outdoor spaces, walking and cycling trails and circular walks. There are a number of activities taking place at Rushmere Country Park, Houghton Hall Park and the Forest of Marston Vale, including outdoor theatre and craft sessions.

There are also activities taking place which are specially designed for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families – including SEND swimming sessions at pools across Central Bedfordshire.

Councillor Hayley Whitaker, Deputy Leader of Central Bedfordshire Council and Executive Member for Families, Education and Children, said:

The summer holidays provide an ideal opportunity for children and young people to explore everything Central Bedfordshire has to offer. There are a range of activities available this summer, both free and paid for, and our new website section details everything that’s taking place. We’ll be sharing information on social media, as will our library service, and sending out a weekly email bulletin on a Friday so people know what’s coming up during the following week.

We hope that this valuable resource will provide children, young people, and their families with a memorable summer.
