2 parent governors appointed to overview and scrutiny committee

2 representatives have been appointed to our Children’s Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee (OSC), as elections for the remaining posts are ongoing.
Earlier this year, we sought nominations for 4 parent governor representative posts on the Children’s Services OSC, which scrutinises performance, considers children’s services policy and offers comments that inform our Executive in making decisions.
We sought nominees for:
- 1 parent governor representative of a special school in Central Bedfordshire
- 2 parent governor representatives of any other local authority-maintained school in Central Bedfordshire
- 1 parent governor representative of an academy
The position for the special school representative has been appointed following nominations received in February 2023. The Monitoring Officer has declared that Richard Sherry has been duly appointed to the post.
The position for the academy school representative has been appointed following nominations received in March 2023. The Monitoring Officer has declared that Emma Ponsonby has been duly appointed to the post.
The closing date for maintained and special schools was 24 January 2023. We received 5 nominations from maintained school representatives, so an election started on 27 March and will close on 21 April. Letters have been sent to all maintained school parent governors inviting them to vote for their preferred candidates.
