Mourning the death of Her Majesty the Queen

Leaders from across Bedfordshire offer their thoughts and heartfelt sympathies to the Royal Family at this time.

Photo of Her Majesty The QueenThe Chief Executive of Central Bedfordshire Council, as Clerk to the Lieutenancy, and on behalf of HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, the Mayors of Bedford Borough Council and Luton Borough Council, the Chairman of Central Bedfordshire Council and Councillors and Officers of all three Authorities, the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Bedfordshire Police, are deeply saddened at the news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with the Royal Family at this time.

Flags will be flown at half-mast on appropriate buildings during the mourning period.

Books of Condolence will be open from 9am Saturday, 9 September 2022 at various locations throughout the county, including the main reception areas at Luton Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council (Priory House) and the Harper Suite in Bedford. Offices at council buildings will remain open from 8am to 5pm until the day after the funeral.
