Tidy tips

Local tidy tips (Household Waste Recycling Centres) will continue to stay open seven days a week, between 9am and 5pm, except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day when they’re closed. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve they will be open between 9am and 1pm.

Recycling real Christmas trees

Real Christmas trees will also be collected for recycling between Monday 10 and Friday 21 January 2022 inclusive. Just put your real Christmas tree next to your recycling bin (not in any bin or bag) on the relevant recycling bin collection day. Real Christmas trees should be no taller than 6 feet, with trunks no greater than 3 inches in diameter and all decorations need to be removed. During this period, no other garden waste or garden waste bins will be collected.

Councillor Ian Dalgarno, our Executive Member for Community Services, said:

As in previous years, we will be starting to issue our Christmas bin tags to remind residents that collection days will be changing over the festive period.

Whilst the Christmas and New Year celebrations are clearly a time to have fun, we are asking residents to continue to think about their environmental impact and do their bit to help continue to reduce waste and increase recycling.

Residents can visit our website to see information about what can go into their kerbside bins and which items can be taken to one of our Household Waste Recycling Centres. These are open every single day except on the three Bank Holidays and on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve when they are open until 1pm.
