New children’s festival coming to Houghton Hall Park in June

If you are looking for something to do with your children, a brand-new festival for kids is being held at Central Bedfordshire Council’s Houghton Hall Park, on Park Road North in Houghton Regis.
The two-day event runs during the weekend of 8–9 June, and organisers Full House Theatre have an action-packed weekend lined up for kids. Entry is free, but there is a small fee for some of the theatre shows and workshops.
On Saturday, TurnAround Dance Theatre will perform their spectacle of The Thief, the Fox and the Phoenix, a captivating show which fuses circus, dance, live-singing and story-telling. It is aimed at kids aged 4 to 8, but the whole family will enjoy this adventure to discover the true meaning of friendship.
On Sunday 9 June children aged 6 to 12 years can take part in the Circus Stars Workshop with performer Suzanne Nixon to learn traditional circus skills, such as plate-spinning, juggling and clowning.
Across the whole weekend, families can also take part in free drop-in craft activities, story-telling sessions, face-painting, and the Meadowlands Activity Trail.
The festival finale will conclude on Sunday afternoon with a free Circus Showcase by local youngsters from Houghton Regis Art Town.
Councillor Ian Dalgarno, Executive Member for Community Services and Leisure at Central Bedfordshire Council, said: “This is an action-packed festival weekend full of exciting events that have been specially selected for young people. Looking at the timetable, there are plenty of activities for kids of all ages to get involved with, as well as entertaining professional theatre shows to watch.
“The festival has been designed to bring people together and we would encourage residents to come along and have fun in the great outdoors with their family, friends and neighbours. We are delighted to add this new event to the summer calendar, so that people can enjoy the many free and affordable activities on offer. We really hope that everyone has an enjoyable day out.”
