Make testing part of your routine

Wednesday, 10 March 2021

We're urging everyone who is coming into contact with other people to make COVID-19 testing part of their usual routine.

Rapid tests are available to people living or working in Central Bedfordshire, who do not have symptoms but do need to mix with people who are not part of their household or bubble.

Regular testing is set to become the new normal, so we help stop the spread of the virus.

Councillor Tracey Stock, our Executive Member for Health and Wellbeing and Communities said:

This is a call to action. We have several centres open across the area, with the capacity to test hundreds of people every day. The more people we test, the more we know who are infected and who can then self-isolate, which means fewer people spreading the virus.

This is a pivotal point in trying to get back to normal. We are all tired of this situation but the more we do now, together, to help bring infection rates down and not allow them to increase, the sooner we will be restriction-free.

The call to action is to make testing part of your routine twice a week. This is particularly relevant at this time, to those in customer-facing roles, whether a delivery driver or care worker. Everyone should be looking at testing as a responsible thing to do, that is part of normal life.

Testing is free, quick to do and available at several centres, so lots of good reasons to get tested and keep yourself, your family and your colleagues safe.
