We've agreed a plan to build the homes local people need

Our Executive agreed, on Tuesday 13 October 2020, a business plan for a new council-owned and run development company: New Vista Homes.
The initial focus is to develop the land we own and deliver 250 homes over the next three to five years.
New Vista Homes is a development company with a difference. As it is council-owned, it will focus on providing high quality, well-designed homes that are needed locally, addressing gaps in the market.
For example: homes to rent, accessible homes and homes for older people, alongside market housing for sale.
Councillor Eugene Ghent, our Executive Member for Assets and Housing Delivery said:
There are high levels of demand for these types of homes from our residents, but private developers are not supplying enough of them.
We already have experience of delivering homes like the large independent living schemes at Priory View in Dunstable and All Saints View in Houghton Regis. This new company will work alongside us and will deliver more of the types of housing we need, where and when we need them.
