Building winners

Tuesday, 1 September 2020

Our Building Control team is celebrating after Bedfordshire took a raft of awards at the Central Region Local Authority Building Control Awards for Building Excellence.

Three were outright winners in their categories, and two were recognised as highly commended; a Bloor Homes site manager and a new building at Millbrook Powertrain Advanced Laboratories.

The winners were:

  • a new building at Cranfield University for its Agri-Informatics team
  • Jason Oakley, also of Bloor Homes, who became LABC Warranty Site Manager of the Year
  • John Pinney of Connolly Homes who was named Construction Professional of the Year

The Central Region Building Excellence awards showcase innovative and creative build solutions and entries, judged on their construction and building control excellence.

Councillor Ian Dalgarno, our Executive Member for Community Services, said:

We’re incredibly pleased for those who have won LABC Building Excellence Awards. All three winners, as well as those that were highly commended and shortlisted, are great local examples of how partnership working between individuals, architects, developers and our own Building Control team are helping to drive up building control standards.

The result is excellent, high quality developments and we look forward to seeing how they fare at the national awards later in the year.

The central region covers Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Bedfordshire. All the winners of each category now go through to the LABC National Building Excellence Finals in London in November.
