Have your say on proposed merger of Flitwick Lower School and Busy Bees Pre-School

Tuesday, 21 January 2020

We've launched a statutory consultation regarding a proposed change of age range for Flitwick Lower School which would enable a merger between the school and Busy Bees Pre-School.

The merger, put forward by the governing body of Flitwick Lower and the committee for Busy Bees (who share a site), would require the school to lower its age range from 4-9 to 2-9 years for the start of the September 2020 term.

The proposal will not affect the age at which children are admitted into pre-school, or the school’s determined admissions agreements, but would see the governing body take over the management of the pre-school.

Following a five-week joint preliminary consultation carried out by the school and the pre-school in October 2019, which resulted in overwhelming support for the merger, the school’s governing body and pre-school committee submitted a request to us, to consider the change of age range, and to carry out a statutory consultation for the proposal.

Visit our public and statutory notices page to find out more and have your say.

Responses to the consultation are required by 5pm on 17 February.

After the close of the consultation, the decision whether to approve the change will be made by our Executive Member for Families Education and Children, after consideration of the responses to both parts of the consultation process.
