New website coming soon
Wednesday, 8 July 2026
We are improving our website, and on 21 July it will look different.
We have produced a short video to explain why we are moving to a new website, the longer-term benefits, and some of the immediate improvements.
Key benefits include:
- improved usability and accessibility – the platform is built specifically for UK councils and is tested to meet the most up-to-date website accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA)
- better experience for residents – a more modern, mobile‑first design that reflects how people actually use our website
- long‑term cost savings – we are moving to an ‘open source’ system, which means we no longer pay expensive license fees or find we are “stuck” with a supplier because leaving is too difficult or expensive
- faster improvements in future – we can reuse features developed by other councils and benefit from shared innovation across local government
Help with testing the new website
Ahead of launching the new website, we have released a preview version of the new site.
See a preview of the new website
The purpose of sharing the preview version of the site is to allow us to identify and resolve critical issues (such as broken links, display issues, etc.) ahead of launch. Any non-critical feedback will be addressed after go-live.
Feedback can be given from any page, using the feedback button at the bottom of the page.
It is worth noting that the preview version of the site is a snapshot of the website at a moment in time. It is not the complete, finished site - we are still working on fine-tuning the design, building the pages and components, and, importantly, the content is from the test migration from 4 June, so it is not up to date.
Forms (and links to forms) will also not work within the preview website. This is expected, as the preview environment is separate from our live systems, but all forms and links will work as expected once the new website goes live.
