Quitting smoking just became a whole lot easier with a new free app

Monday, 19 August 2019

A new FREE mobile app has been launched by the Stop Smoking Service to help smokers kick the habit for good and stay nicotine free.

The app is available to anyone who lives or works in Central Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, or Bedford and offers a personalised 24-hour support service, seven days a week.

Just tap “My Quit Route” on any Android or iOS devices to download the app for free and start a personalised self-assessment.

The app works best alongside support from the Stop Smoking Service which has helped 2,432 smokers kick the habit across Central Bedfordshire, Bedford and Milton Keynes, last year.

Councillor Tracey Stock, Executive Member for Health and Wellbeing and Communities, at Central Bedfordshire Council, said:

This customer-friendly app will support those who want to quit smoking and improve their health through an easy to use, modern, accessible and convenient way.

The app provides detailed support, tools and tips at any time of the day or night simply at the touch of a button. My Quit Route will assess a smoker’s level of nicotine dependence, provide tailored behaviour change support, track progress and spending, plus offer relaxation techniques to help smokers quit.

Six out of ten people who use the Stop Smoking Service quit smoking, so by combining the use of the app and service together we hope to increase the success rate even further.

The Stop Smoking Service is completely free, and clients receive high-quality specialist telephone support and access to a variety of products to help them quit. These include, Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), Champix and Zyban, as well as expert regular support and advice when they need it.

The Stop Smoking Service is jointly provided by Central Bedfordshire Council, Bedford Borough Council and Milton Keynes Council.
