Garden waste collections to pause over winter in Central Bedfordshire

Tuesday, 4 November 2025

We will temporarily pause garden waste collections for 12 weeks this winter, from Monday, 1 December 2025 to Friday, 20 February 2026. Collections will resume on Monday, 23 February 2026.

The final garden waste collection for each area will take place during the week beginning either Monday, 17 November or Monday, 24 November. Residents are encouraged to check online which date applies to their area. All other waste and recycling collections will continue as normal during this period.

To stay informed, residents can sign up for email alerts to receive updates on collection schedules and future garden waste subscription renewals.

Alternative options for disposing of garden waste during the winter break

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs)

Residents can continue to recycle garden waste at any of our recycling centres, which are open daily from 9am to 5pm, including bank holidays.

For Christmas and New Year opening hours and to book a visit go to our tidy tips web page.

Residents can now purchase 55-litre reusable garden waste sacks for £7.32 each (maximum of 5 per customer) for taking garden waste to a recycling centre. Please note these sacks cannot be used in conjunction with any of our kerbside waste collections including the garden waste subscription service. If the sacks are left out, then they will not be emptied.
