I’ve been a cyclist all my life, and I think it's brilliant that the Tour of Britain is here, so that locals don't have to travel far to experience international sport. It's been a fantastic day.

I’ve come all the way from Kent to be in sunny Central Bedfordshire and watch the race! The roads are looking good, and the weather has done its job. It’s wonderful to see all the kids out enjoying it and it's amazing so many people have turned out.

It's been fantastic to welcome the Tour of Britain to Central Bedfordshire; a great opportunity to showcase our towns, villages, parks and beautiful countryside.
The excitement we’ve seen on the streets of Ampthill and many other towns and villages has been about more than just watching international sport; it’s about inspiring the champions of the future. We hope to have encouraged children and adults to get active, discover cycling and enjoy our extensive network of routes and open spaces. Today has been about creating a lasting legacy.
Hosting the Tour proves Central Bedfordshire can successfully stage international events while bringing people together to celebrate our shared sense of community.
