Social workers nominated for national awards

Friday, 22 August 2025

Social workers are being recognised nationally for their outstanding contributions to children’s services and complex care, having been shortlisted for honours at 2 awards ceremonies.

At the Social Worker of the Year Awards, Sarah Malivoire has been nominated in the Practice Leadership and Management category, while our young carers team has been nominated as Team of the Year. The finalists were chosen by panels of independent judges including previous award winners, social workers, industry leaders and people with lived experience of social work. They will find out if they have won at the awards ceremony being held in October.

Furthermore, Suzanne Gayford is a finalist in the Top Advanced Practitioner category at the Neurological and Complex Care Awards 2025. The awards, organised by Care Talk magazine, celebrate excellence across the neurological and complex care sector, recognising individuals, teams, and organisations that deliver high-quality, person-centred care. Suzanne will find out if she has won at the awards ceremony in October.

Councillor Steve Owen, our Executive Member for Children and Families, said:

It’s fantastic to see our social workers receiving national recognition for the incredible work they do. These nominations reflect the dedication, skill and compassion shown by our teams every day. At Central Bedfordshire Council, we put children at the heart of everything we do, and I’m proud that this commitment is being acknowledged on such a prestigious stage. Congratulations to Sarah, Suzanne and our young carers team; being shortlisted is a huge achievement in itself.
