Do you have a passion for caring? Join our Shared Lives programme and make a difference!

Tuesday, 14 January 2025

We're launching a Shared Lives campaign to recruit compassionate individuals to become Shared Lives carers.

This innovative programme offers a unique opportunity for people to make a meaningful impact in their community by supporting adults in need, helping them live independently in a family home environment.

Do you have space in your life and home to open it up to another adult who needs care and support? If the answer is yes, you could join Central Bedfordshire’s growing team of Shared Lives carers and start helping to support others in your local community.

Whether you are a young professional looking for a flexible way to give back or someone with a background in care, becoming a Shared Lives carer could be the perfect role for you. The programme is open to anyone who has a genuine passion for helping others, regardless of their work or life situation.

Ategi, the Council’s commissioned partners, will host a webinar on Thursday 30 January 2025, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, offering an opportunity for people to learn more about the benefits and requirements of becoming a Shared Lives carer. The session will provide valuable insights into how Shared Lives works, how it transforms lives, and will explore personal experiences.

Find out more about Shared Lives, including how to register to join.

Interested individuals are encouraged to register for the virtual session. The event is open to anyone who wants to learn more about becoming a Shared Lives carer.

Councillor Mark Smith, our Executive Member for Adult Social Care said:

Shared Lives is more than just a care programme; it’s about building connections and creating a supportive environment where individuals can thrive within a family setting. The programme offers a unique opportunity for people to make a real difference in their community and help to transform lives.
