Central Bedfordshire’s libraries and leisure centres open Warm Spaces again this winter

Monday, 16 December 2024

With temperatures dropping and many families facing increased energy costs, our libraries and leisure centres will be open as ‘Warm Spaces’ this winter.

For the third year in a row, our libraries and leisure centres are available as Warm Spaces, providing a safe place where everyone is welcome during the day.

Some of the leisure centres have cafes, and our libraries offer free Wi-Fi and access to public computers, as well as seating so people can enjoy time with a book. Residents are welcome to take their own food and drink to our libraries.

The initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting residents who may be struggling with rising heating bills and other costs.

Councillor Adam Zerny, Leader of Central Bedfordshire Council, said:

We know that this winter could be challenging for many, and we want to support our residents as much as possible. By opening our libraries and leisure centres as Warm Spaces, we hope to provide a place where residents can feel comfortable and safe during the day, without the added worry of heating costs at home.
