What’s on this half-term in Central Bedfordshire?

Thursday, 15 February 2024

As the half-term holiday approaches, we're reminding families about the exciting activities available in the area that they can enjoy together.

Whether you're looking for indoor or outdoor adventures, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

We have children’s centres in Leighton Buzzard, Sandy, Biggleswade, Shefford, Stotfold, Flitwick, Houghton Regis and Dunstable. Each hosts a variety of activities each week including Stay and Play sessions, SEND Coffee Mornings, and singing sessions for parents of babies up to 12 months old.

Full details of all the children’s centres and the sessions they run are available on our Family Information Directory.

Our libraries are also hosting activities for families during half term. All the libraries are hosting craft activities throughout the week, where children can make things including bookmarks and paper daffodils.

At Houghton Regis Library, families can take part in a Chinese New Year themed scavenger hunt all week, as well as making Chinese New Year themed crafts like a dragon mask and a dragon puppet.

And Potton Library, Ampthill Library and Leighton Buzzard Library will also host Lego and board game drop-in sessions. Find more about our libraries or pop into your local library to see what’s on.

There are a series of activities for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) including Forest School sessions in Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and Sandy, a SEND Stay and Play session at Flitwick Library and swimming sessions at our leisure centres. Visit our SEND Local Offer to find out more.

Central Bedfordshire offers plenty of outdoor space for families to make the most of, with Rushmere Country Park, the Forest of Marston Vale and Houghton Hall Park offering various activities and opportunities to explore.

Councillor Hayley Whitaker, our Executive Member for Families, Education and Children, said:

I hope that as many families as possible will take advantage of the activities on offer during the half-term holiday, giving them the chance to spend quality time together, create lasting memories, and explore all that Central Bedfordshire has to offer.
