What to expect

Join our Landlord Assurance Board

We’re looking for tenants and leaseholders who want to help improve housing services in Central Bedfordshire.

From repairs to looking after your building or neighbourhood, you know what works well, and where things could be improved. This is your chance to share your experience and help shape how services are run.

We are particularly keen to welcome members with experience in housing, building and construction, health and safety, social work or health, finance, law, business, or community voluntary organisations. This is your chance to have a real say in how housing services are run and help improve things for other tenants.

What is the Landlord Assurance Board?

The Landlord Assurance Board brings tenants together with councillors and senior housing staff to look at how housing services are performing.

As part of the Board, tenants help to:

  • review how housing services are performing
  • look at reports on safety, quality and service standards
  • ask questions and challenge where improvements are needed
  • help shape decisions about how services are run and improved
  • make sure tenants’ views are included in key decisions

What’s involved?

You’ll take part in regular meetings, held around every two months, where housing services are reviewed and discussed. Meetings are usually in person, with support available if needed.

There will also be time to read information in advance and take part in discussions about what’s working well and where things could be improved.

Why get involved?

You’ll be able to ask questions directly to senior housing staff, develop new skills and confidence, and be part of something that makes a difference.

You’ll be supported throughout your time on the Board, with training to help you understand the role and build your confidence. We’ll also cover reasonable expenses, and vouchers are provided as an incentive for attending meetings and completing certain activities. Support with digital access is available if needed, including the loan of IT equipment such as a laptop and a contribution towards broadband costs.

Who can apply?

You can apply if you:

  •  are 18 or over
  •  are a Central Bedfordshire Council tenant, leaseholder, shared owner or licensee
  •  have lived in your home for at least 12 months
