Apprenticeship levy

Where the apprenticeship levy is charged to a school where we employ the staff, it can either be spread across lines E01 to E07 if that is most convenient, or entered as a lump sum in E08.

Unique Taxpayer Reference

Our schools who provide early years clubs or after schools clubs and want to sign up to tax-free childcare but do not have their own UTR number can use Central Bedfordshire’s UTR number 2107311048. More information can be found on this HMRC letter (PDF 39.2KB) .

Information: 40% savings from new printer deal

The Department for Education (DfE) has worked with Canon on a money-saving deal for school printers (link opens in new window).

The deal is part of the schools’ buying strategy (link opens in new window) that aims to make buying easier and offer the best value for schools. Early feedback is positive with schools regularly reporting savings of more than 40%.

DfE has secured this deal under a framework competition process so there's no need for schools to get 3 quotes. All you need to do is choose your device and place your order.

Canon has set up a help desk for schools, on 0800 029 4981 to answer questions.

All academies and 16 to 19 providers can get in touch with ESFA through the online enquiry form (link opens in new window).

New school financial benchmarking data

The Consistent Financial Reporting (CFR) 2015-16 data is now available on the Schools Financial Benchmarking (link opens in new window) website.

The CFR data will be published as part of the 2016 Performance Tables for primary and secondary schools by the end of February. The publication will be at individual school level using grouped categories of income and expenditure. The full raw data will also be available to download and any data that could lead to the identification of individual staff salaries will be suppressed.

School Census data for January 2016 has been used to populate the pupil numbers and the November 2015 Workforce data has been used to populate the staff numbers.

Where schools convert to academy status within the financial year, a CFR return is required for the period to conversion. For any queries relating to CFR codes or the benchmarking website, please send an email to academy.questions@education.gsi.gov.uk.
