Local Talent Network (LTN) for schools

Schools Local Talent Network (LTN)

We're working with maintained schools and academies to create a Local Talent Network (LTN). This comprehensive database will assist schools to identify where they may seek support for a particular area of the curriculum, leadership and management and the practical side of running their schools.

Principles of LTN

It is a joint activity, in which two or more people interact and influence one another, in contrast to the non-interactive, unilateral character of much conventional ‘sharing good practice’.

The LTN:

  • is an activity that focuses on teachers’ professional practice, ie what they do, not merely what they know
  • is a development of the practice, not simply a transfer of it from one person or place to another, and so a form of school improvement
  • is a non-judgmental enquiry and creating a culture of feedback in schools
  • will strengthen the degree of challenge and support within and between schools with a focus on changing practice and improvements

Schools will agree charges between themselves but will not exceed £350 per day.

Registration process for the LTN

NLEs and SLEs already holding an accreditation will automatically move onto the Local Talent Network database, unless they wish not to be part of it; they will be required to complete an application form (Word).

Selection process via application for those wishing to join the LTN.

It is anticipated that leads of the Professional Study Groups will apply to be on the LTN database.

Accessing support from LTN

All schools and academies will receive access to the database; this will enable them to identify the most appropriate support and make direct contact with that individual/organisation.

Charging arrangements and reporting arrangements will be negotiated between the provider of support and the school wishing to access support.

Quality assurance

All schools accessing support will be asked to complete an evaluation during and at the end of the support. This will take the form of a scoring system and will be shared with the provider of the support we will provide mediation if required.

We will keep an average score against individuals as a live rating on the database.

Should an individual rating drop below 3 stars the provider will be removed from the database.

We will maintain the right to remove LTN practitioners who are underutilised.
