Standard Council Tax instalments are spread over a 10 month period, due on the 5th of each month from April to January. Your current payment dates and amounts are on the front of your Council Tax bill.
To make it easier to pay your Council Tax, we offer a selection of different instalment options and payment dates which you can switch to – the options available depend on how you pay your Council Tax.
Direct Debit
You can:
- pay over 12 months instead of 10
- choose from 4 different payment dates: 5th, 9th, 19th or last day of each month
- switch to yearly or half-yearly payments

Online payment, telephone, cheque or cash
You can:
- pay over 12 months instead of 10
- pay on the last day of each month
- switch to weekly or fortnightly payments
If you would like to change how you pay your Council Tax, please contact us. You must continue to pay the amounts shown on your current Council Tax bill until we send you a new bill with your new instalments.
